About

Jonathan Holiday touched the lives and hearts of everyone who met him during his 17 years of life.  His endearing spirit and amazing outlook inspired many to believe that a heart condition did not define your limitations but gave you a reason to live your life to the fullest.

Jonathan was born on June 10 1983, the youngest child of five to parents Michael and Carole Holiday.  He was born with transposition of the greater arteries, a heart condition that required 4 open heart surgeries, his first one occurring when he was only 7 months old. Jonathan was airlifted to The Hospital for Sick Children shortly after he was born and all of his procedures and care were administered by the staff at Sick Kids.

His family will always be in awe of the care and possibilities that were provided to Jonathan because of the amazing treatment that he received. Jonathan firmly believed that he had the best doctors and nursing staff in the world. Jonathan underwent many difficult procedures and faced many challenges in life, yet he continued to be a happy upbeat child whose constant laughter could constantly be heard. Even though he was the baby of the family, each time he was scheduled to undergo surgery he told everyone that everything was going to be alright and that he would see them shortly.

People who met Jonathan for the first time were always shocked when they discovered that he had been born with a heart condition. He lived his life like any other child, never wanting special treatment and always spreading good cheer through his funny disposition.

Unfortunately Jonathan lost his battle when he died from complications on June 20th 2000. By giving a donation to Sick Kids you are helping to keep Jonathan’s legacy alive. A heart condition does not have to limit your life’s aspirations and with proper care and a positive attitude anything is possible.
